MORZINE TOURIST INFORMATION FOR WINTER AND SUMMER HOLIDAYS IN THE FRENCH ALPS
Scroll down the page for photos of Morzine and links for catered, self-catered and bed and breakfast chalet accommodation in Morzine in the French Alps.
Morzine nestles right at the heart of the Portes du Soleil, the largest linked ski area in the Alps that links both France and Switzerland. While it is clearly a wonderful Winter skiing resort, the facilities and location make Morzine a year-round holiday destination with a huge range of Summer season activities: Walking, cycling and mountain biking to horse riding, canoeing, white water rafting and paragliding.
For less sporty members of the party, Morzine is a picturesque, authentic Alpine village and the nearby Lac de Montriond is a jade green lake, surrounded by mountains, cliffs and pine trees, where it is a pleasure to picnic, lie in the sun and enjoy the occasional dip. The lido boasts three swimming pools and a lovely sunbathing area. Lake Geneva is a half hour drive away, offering water sports, lake cruises, historic castles, vineyards, pretty villages and the shopping, cultural and sightseeing opportunities of Geneva itself.
MORZINE - PORTES DU SOLEIL
The skiers winter paradise of Portes du Soleil transforms into a huge network of mountain biking trails and hill walking trails in the Summer and Autumn seasons, offering plenty for every level of availability and easy access right into the mountains using the cable cars and chair lifts.
The chalet is only 5 minutes on foot from everything that counts; shuttle buses, tourist information, bars, restaurants shops and the lido with its three swimming pools, the river, the Falls of Nyon and the nearest cable car to take you into the mountains.
Morzine is well geared up for mountain biking and cycling enthusiasts, with guides, expeditions and repair services all easily available. The Tour de France passes through Morzine next in 2007 and Chalet Charley is on the route, so fans should book their space on the balcony now!
Morzine has a wonderful down to earth attitude and lacks of the pretentiousness of some other mountain resorts. It has a warm, friendly atmosphere and authenticity, the feeling of community, pride and care in the area and the inexhaustible possibilities for enjoyment. It is the ideal place for a relaxed and fun holiday whether as a couple, with a group of friends or as a family.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS FROM GENEVA
